STANDARD FOUR: HUMAN RESOURCES LEADERSHIP
The role of a school administrator is to create a professional community where there are processes and systems that support the hiring process, evaluation, and teacher retention that will lead to a high performing staff. The school administrator must use distributive practices to support teachers in the day-to-day operation of the building and protect them from what interferes with their teaching duties. Furthermore, the school administrator must develop teachers and help them progress towards their career goals.
A. Professional Development/Learning Communities
At this meeting, I helped prepare our data for referrals since the beginning of the year. SIT members used this meeting to reflect on behavior and academic data and determine alignment to our current SIP plan.
B. Recruiting, Hiring, Mentoring, and Placing of Staff
During my internship, I had the ability to interview potential candidates for staff positions ranging from teachers, assistant principal, teaching assistants and clerical staff. This is a collection of interview questions that I edited and utilized in the interview process.
C. Teacher and Staff Evaluation
Throughout my internship at Washington GT Elementary, I had the opportunity to work with the principal and assistant principal to complete teacher pre-conferences, post-conferences and observations with guidance. I had the opportunity to observe K-5 teachers, specials teachers, and our media coordinator.
